Olympic champions celebrated at Baden-Baden gala as sport journalists honor their historic achievements.
- Darja Varfolomeev, the 18-year-old rhythmic gymnast, was named Sportlerin des Jahres after becoming the first German to win Olympic gold in her discipline.
- Rower Oliver Zeidler secured the Sportler des Jahres title following his gold medal win in Paris, narrowly edging out swimmer Lukas Märtens by 47 points.
- The 3x3 women's basketball team, consisting of Sonja Greinacher, Svenja Brunckhorst, Elisa Mevius, and Marie Reichert, won Mannschaft des Jahres after their dramatic Olympic gold victory over Spain.
- Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Yemisi Ogunleye placed second and third, respectively, in the women's category, while Patrick Lange and Lukas Märtens rounded out the top three for the men.
- The awards were decided by 3,000 sports journalists and presented during the 78th annual gala attended by 700 guests at the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden.
