"Daredevil: Born Again" Series on Disney+ Gets New Creative Team Amid Overhaul

Dario Scardapane, showrunner of "The Punisher," tapped to lead takeover, accompanied by "Moon Knight" and "Loki" directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead as "Daredevil: Born Again" undergoes massive overhaul while remaining episodes are yet to be filmed post Screen Actors Guild strike.

  • Dario Scardapane, the showrunner of "The Punisher," has been appointed the new showrunner for "Daredevil: Born Again" and will be writing new episodes and new material for existing footage. Charlie Cox, who played Matt Murdock in Netflix's "Daredevil" series, will reprise his lead role in the series.
  • Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, directors known for their work on "Moon Knight" and "Loki" Season 2, have been brought on board to direct the remaining episodes of "Daredevil: Born Again." The production was forced to shut down due to the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike.
  • The series will keep episodes that have already been shot while also adding new serialized elements to them. Due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, the series cannot yet return to production until a resolution is reached between SAG-AFTRA and the AMPTP.
  • Despite significant changes to the show's creative leadership, Marvel Studios is retaining some continuity by hiring Scardapane, who has previously headed up the Netflix series, "The Punisher." Additionally, Jon Bernthal will be returning as Punisher, and Vincent D'Onofrio will be back as Kingpin.
  • Although originally intended to be an 18-episode series, the future structure of "Daredevil: Born Again" remains uncertain. Revisions towards a more raw and action-focused tone similar to the original Netflix series are expected under the new creative team.
