Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, the top seed, won his first-round match against Arthur Fils with a score of 6-4, 6-2 at the Erste Bank Open in Vienna, marking one of the day's six sweeps.
Medvedev displayed a dominant performance, winning 28 out of 31 first-service points and collecting 16 winners against just three unforced errors.
Other winners of the first-round matches included second-seeded Jannik Sinner who defeated American Ben Shelton, Borna Gojo who ousted Aslan Karatsev, and Gael Monfils who beat Daniel Altmaier.
In the second round, Alexander Zverev and Karen Khachanov secured victories against Cameron Norrie and Jiri Lehecka respectively.
Other successful players in the first rounds included Casper Ruud, Taylor Fritz, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and Ugo Humbert.
