Overview
- Ipswich Crown Court jailed the 29-year-old for four-and-a-half years on Friday after a jury found him guilty of manslaughter.
- He punched 25-year-old Charlie Greaves on Felixstowe seafront on August 10, 2024, and the resulting fall caused a 9cm skull fracture that led to his death the next day.
- The confrontation began when members of Martin’s group challenged Mr Greaves about his dog being off its lead.
- Judge Martyn Levett noted that none of the 17 witnesses supported Martin’s account, given after he had consumed about eight pints of Guinness and a tequila shot.
- Mr Greaves’ mother delivered a statement describing the family’s loss, and Suffolk Police said the death was completely avoidable.
