Dame Edna Everage's signature yellow-lacquered glasses sold for £37,800, over 25 times their pre-sale estimate of £1,000–£1,500.
The glasses were part of a nine-hour auction of Barry Humphries' personal collection, which drew bidders from 41 countries.
The auction's highest-priced item was Charles Conder’s painting 'Sand Dunes, Ambleteuse,' sold for £239,400.
A first edition of Oscar Wilde's 'The Importance of Being Earnest,' inscribed to his publisher, fetched £138,600.
Barry Humphries, who passed away in 2023, was celebrated for his alter egos, including Dame Edna, and his legacy as a comedian, actor, and collector.
