Damares Publishes List of Churches and Pastors Cited in INSS Fraud Inquiry

The move follows public pressure from Pastor Silas Malafaia for disclosure.

Overview

  • The senator released CPMI requisitions naming Adoração Church, Assembleia de Deus Ministério do Renovo, Ministério Deus é Fiel Church (SeteChurch) and Igreja Evangélica Campo de Anatote, along with leaders André Machado Valadão, Cesar Belucci, Péricles Albino Gonçalves, Fabiano Campos Zettel and André Fernandes.
  • Damares said the requests include approved transfers of financial secrecy and subpoenas or invitations to testify, stressing they rely on financial intelligence reports and tax data and do not amount to findings of guilt.
  • Malafaia had challenged her remarks about involvement by “large churches” and “renowned leaders,” calling the claims reckless and posting a video demanding names; after the list was posted, he continued to dispute her characterization.
  • The CPMI reports it has reviewed about 4,800 documents, identified roughly 108 suspect companies and plans to ask the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to suspend nearly 2 million consignado contracts flagged as irregular.
  • The commission’s current deadline is March, with its president seeking a 60‑day extension to finish document analysis and remaining hearings.
