Overview
- Kirsten Schmitt, 26, and Anthony Pedigo, 30, were taken into custody in Dalton on Sept. 22 after warrants were issued Sept. 19.
- Police say the couple’s 22-month-old son, Grayson Pedigo, was found unresponsive on June 5 inside their apartment and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
- Officers were dispatched to 2822 Gregory Place at about 4 p.m. after the parents called 911 to report the child was not breathing.
- Investigators report the parents routinely buckled the toddler into a car seat on the living room floor to watch television.
- Schmitt told police she left Grayson alone while waking Pedigo for work, remaining in a bedroom for about 30 to 40 minutes, and authorities say injuries appeared consistent with a seat belt and buckle around his neck; the case remains under investigation.
