Overview
- City leaders cut the ribbon Saturday at Fair Park, opening the upgraded west stands in time for the State Fair events and the Texas–Oklahoma game window.
- Upgrades include 14 escalators, widened concourses, expanded restrooms and concessions, multi-story west entries, terraces with skyline views, premium seating and additional suites.
- Designers framed the work as a preservation-minded modernization intended to keep the venue’s historic character and close-to-the-field atmosphere.
- The completed scope covers only the west side, and the city still must decide how to finance the east-side phase by 2030, with options under discussion such as bonds, certificates of obligation or partnerships.
- Fair Park officials say the enhancements should improve the stadium’s competitiveness for major events and note two tenants, Trinity and Athletico, are slated to use the venue.
