Overview

  • General manager Jim Nill said Bastian’s size and grit will bring a physical element to Dallas’s forward group.
  • The one-year, one-way deal carries a $775,000 cap hit for the 2025–26 season.
  • He spent six NHL seasons mainly with the New Jersey Devils after being drafted 41st overall in 2016 and briefly joined the Seattle Kraken in 2021.
  • Last season, he tallied four goals, six assists and 138 hits in 59 games while averaging under 11 minutes of ice time.
  • He will compete with Oskar Back and Colin Blackwell for fourth-line minutes as Dallas approaches its salary-cap ceiling.
