Overview

  • Senior Cpl. Le Chau turned himself in on July 10 and posted bond after being charged with a third-degree felony for allegedly stealing $37,806 in Apple merchandise.
  • Covert cameras at NorthPark, Knox Street and Galleria stores captured him concealing products in his police jacket and loading duffel bags during overnight security shifts.
  • Surveillance footage shows him using a trash picker to retrieve items from top shelves, including a full box of AirPod Pros whose serial numbers were recovered in a store restroom trash.
  • The FBI opened its inquiry in March and referred the case to the DPD Public Integrity Unit, prompting an internal investigation that placed him on administrative leave.
  • Investigators found evidence that Chau’s wife sold stolen goods on Facebook Marketplace after both were detained at DFW Airport and their home was searched in April.
