Dallas Cowboys Trade for Kenneth Murray and Kaiir Elam to Bolster Defense

The Cowboys acquire two former first-round picks while losing veteran DeMarcus Lawrence to the Seahawks in free agency.

The Dallas Cowboys traded with the Tennessee Titans to acquire linebacker Kenneth Murray, along with a 2025 seventh-round pick, in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick.
In a separate deal with the Buffalo Bills, the Cowboys secured cornerback Kaiir Elam and a 2025 sixth-round pick, giving up a 2025 fifth-rounder and a 2026 seventh-round pick.
Kenneth Murray, originally drafted by the Chargers, had 95 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season with the Titans and is expected to strengthen the Cowboys' linebacker corps.
Kaiir Elam, a 2022 first-round pick, struggled to secure a starting role in Buffalo but joins a Cowboys secondary facing injuries and depth concerns, including uncertainty around Trevon Diggs' return.
The Cowboys also lost four-time Pro Bowl defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence to the Seattle Seahawks after choosing not to extend his contract.
