Javonte Williams signed a one-year contract with the Dallas Cowboys worth $3 million, with incentives raising the potential value to $3.5 million.
Williams, 24, spent the last four seasons with the Denver Broncos, where he started 29 games and totaled 2,394 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in his career.
The move comes as Rico Dowdle, the Cowboys' leading rusher in 2024, enters free agency with a projected market value of $6.1 million for a one-year deal.
Williams has shown improvement as a receiver, recording a career-high 52 receptions for 346 yards in 2024, but his rushing production has declined since a serious knee injury in 2022.
Dallas, which struggled in the running game last season with a league-low six rushing touchdowns, may still target additional running backs in the 2025 NFL Draft.
