Dakar Rally Competitor Carles Falcón Dies Following Crash

The Spanish motorbike racer succumbs to injuries a week after the accident during the second stage of the race in Saudi Arabia.

Spanish motorcycle racer Carles Falcón has died from injuries sustained in a crash at the Dakar Rally a week ago.
Falcón was 448 kilometers into the second stage of the race in Saudi Arabia when he crashed.
He was airlifted to a hospital in Al Duwadimi and then transferred to a hospital in Riyadh, before being repatriated to Spain.
Falcón was making his second appearance at the Dakar Rally, having finished 68th in 2022.
The Dakar Rally, one of the world’s longest and most demanding endurance races, has claimed many lives since its inception in 1978.
