Dacia Spring Adds 100-HP Option and Renault Group’s First LFP Battery

The upgrade targets better high‑speed usability without abandoning the Spring’s low entry price.

Overview

  • The previous 45 hp and 65 hp motors are replaced by 70 hp and 100 hp units to improve performance at higher speeds, with 80–120 km/h acceleration quoted at 10.3 seconds for the 70 and 6.9 seconds for the 100.
  • The new 24.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery debuts for the Renault Group, prioritizing cost, longevity and thermal safety while keeping the WLTP range at 225 km on versions with 15-inch wheels.
  • Chassis and dynamics updates include a stiffer structure, standard anti-roll bar, retuned suspension and stronger brake assistance, plus aero tweaks that reduce drag.
  • Charging is quicker, with an optional 40 kW DC capability on higher trims enabling a 20–80% top-up in 29 minutes and a standard 7 kW AC charger cutting 20–100% time to 3 hours 20 minutes.
  • Dacia pairs the 70 hp powertrain with Essential and Expression trims and the 100 hp with Extreme, with pricing reported to remain broadly unchanged at about €16,900 in Europe (under €20,000 range-wide) and roughly £15,000–£17,000 in the UK, with market arrivals expected from early next year.
