Dachau Lifts Most Boil-Water Orders as Stutensee and Büchenau Announce New E. Coli Advisories

In Dachau, a tree root breached a hydrant seal and introduced soil bacteria, leaving a south‑west zone under review until three consecutive clean tests are confirmed.

Overview

  • Stadtwerke Dachau ended the advisory for areas east of the railway and north of the Amper, but it remains in place west of the railway and south of the Amper.
  • Fresh samples were taken Friday for the remaining Dachau-Süd zone, another network flush is scheduled for Saturday, and a decision is planned Monday, November 10, in consultation with health officials.
  • Tests in Dachau did not detect fecal-indicator bacteria such as E. coli or intestinal enterococci, the implicated hydrant at Unterer Markt was replaced, and the system was repeatedly flushed.
  • Separately, authorities reported E. coli in tap water in Stutensee and the Bruchsal district of Büchenau, prompting a boil-water order and planned chlorination pending further results after the weekend.
  • Roughly 27,700 residents are affected in Baden-Württemberg, and guidance instructs boiling water for drinking, food preparation, oral hygiene, and wound care until further notice.
