- A joint circular issued on September 7 by FAECYS and the employer chambers officially transfers the sectoral holiday from its statutory date of September 26 to Monday, September 28.
- Law 26.541 treats the Día del Empleado de Comercio as equivalent to a national holiday for mercantile employees, so workers who do not work keep full pay and those who do must receive a 100% surcharge.
- The transfer is not automatic under law and depends on negotiated agreements between FAECYS and chambers such as CAC, CAME and UDECA, which the September 7 circular put into effect for 2026.
- In practice, major supermarkets, shopping centers and large retail chains are expected to close on September 28, while neighborhood shops run by owners or family members may remain open if staffed voluntarily.
- Several provincial affiliates already confirmed local implementations — Mendoza, Neuquén and Zapala set the day for September 28 while La Pampa chose an alternative date — and the move follows the same precedent used in 2025.
