D-Day Veterans Honored as Names Added to Memorial Wall

The 80th anniversary of D-Day will be commemorated with a national event in Portsmouth, marking a significant gathering of veterans.

Two D-Day veterans, Stan Ford and John Roberts, have been honored by having their names added to the Normandy Memorial Wall at the D-Day Story museum in Southsea, Hampshire.
The addition of 13 names from 12 allied countries marks 100 days until the 80th anniversary of D-Day, a key Second World War battle.
A national event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day is planned for June 5 in Portsmouth, potentially the last significant gathering of veterans, all over 90 years old.
The commemoration will feature military musicians, a Royal Air Force flypast, and tributes to those who died during the Normandy campaign and the surviving veterans of D-Day.
The Ministry of Defence has launched a D-Day 80 website for public registration and information on the official commemorations.
