Cynisca Cycling Team Suspended for Fraudulent Activity

The team attempted to deceive officials by dressing a mechanic as a rider to meet race requirements.

The International Cycling Union (UCI) suspended the American women's cycling team Cynisca for fraud after a mechanic was dressed as a rider to avoid disqualification from a race.
Danny Van Haute, the team's sports director, was identified as the main perpetrator and has been suspended from all cycling activities until December 31, 2025.
Mechanic Moira Barrett, who participated in the deception, received a suspension until September 1, 2024.
The four riders involved were given reprimands, and the team was fined and banned from the next race on the UCI International Calendar.
Cynisca Cycling has terminated all relationships with Van Haute and Barrett, emphasizing that such behavior will never be condoned and apologizing for the incident.
