Cyclones Sweep Russia With Rain, Wet Snow and Sharp Cooling

Forecasters expect more waves of mixed precipitation through next week.

  • First seasonal snow was confirmed in parts of the Volga region, including Udmurtia, Perm Krai and Bashkortostan, with up to 5 cm measured at Glazov.
  • Traffic restrictions on the UfaInzerBeloretsk route in Bashkortostan were lifted after 14:00 MSK on Monday following closures due to wind, snowfall and ice.
  • Authorities issued a storm warning in Krasnodar Krai for heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusts to 20 m/s with a risk of waterspouts over the sea and possible river level rises.
  • Wet snow and gusts up to 14 m/s are forecast across the Urals on Tuesday, with severe nighttime lows in parts of Tyumen, Khanty-Mansi and Yamal dropping to around minus 16 to minus 19 degrees Celsius in clear areas.
  • Moscow is set for light rain with local wet snow on Tuesday, daytime highs of 4–6 degrees Celsius and a westerly breeze, according to meteorologist Mikhail Leus.
