Overview

  • The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional issued yellow alerts for rain, strong winds and extreme cold in 19 Argentine provinces as a southern cyclogenesis event intensified over July 16–17.
  • Monsoon moisture combined with high-altitude cyclonic circulation and low-pressure channels is triggering heavy to very heavy rains, thunderstorms and possible hail across much of Mexico, including intense downpours in Sinaloa and Nayarit.
  • SGIRPC and SMN advisories warn of strong afternoon showers, electrical activity and possible hail in Mexico City and the Valley of Mexico between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m.
  • Temperatures are forecast to soar to 40–45 °C in northeast Baja California under hot, humid monsoon conditions.
  • Spain’s Galicia region remains calm and dry with clear skies and daytime highs of 18–29 °C, according to AEMET forecasts for Barro, Meis, Mondariz and Pontecesures.
