Cyclist Airlifted After Plummeting into Ravine at Tour de Suisse

  • Swiss cyclist Gino Mäder crashed during a descent in the mountainous fifth stage of the Tour de Suisse race and fell into a ravine.
  • Mäder was found unconscious at the scene and required resuscitation before being airlifted to a hospital.
  • American cyclist Magnus Sheffield also crashed at the same spot and was taken to the hospital with a concussion and bruises.
  • The severity of Mäder's injuries is still unknown according to his team, Bahrain Victorious.
  • The crashes have drawn criticism of the route design for the stage.
