Cybercrime Ring Stole and Resold Taylor Swift Tickets, Netting $600,000

Prosecutors allege the scheme exploited StubHub's system to hijack nearly 1,000 tickets for major events, including the record-breaking Eras Tour.

  • Two individuals, Tyrone Rose and Shamara Simmons, have been charged in connection with a ticket theft scheme targeting StubHub.
  • The operation involved employees of a third-party contractor in Jamaica who accessed and redirected ticket URLs meant for legitimate buyers.
  • Over 900 tickets, primarily for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour, were stolen and resold, generating more than $600,000 in profits between June 2022 and July 2023.
  • Other stolen tickets included entry to Adele and Ed Sheeran concerts, NBA games, and the U.S. Open Tennis Championships.
  • StubHub has refunded or replaced affected orders, terminated its relationship with the implicated contractor, and enhanced its security measures.
