Cybercrime Leader Extradited to US for Ransomware and Malvertising Schemes

Maksim Silnikau faces multiple charges for orchestrating international cyberattacks and fraudulent advertising operations.

Silnikau, a Belarusian-Ukrainian national, was arrested in Spain and extradited to the US.
He is accused of creating the Ransom Cartel ransomware operation in 2021 and running malvertising schemes from 2013 to 2022.
Silnikau allegedly used various aliases on Russian-speaking hacking forums to promote his cybercrime activities.
Co-conspirators Volodymyr Kadariya and Andrei Tarasov also face charges in connection with the malvertising operation.
Silnikau could face over 100 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
