Cyberattack on Collins Check-In Software Disrupts Heathrow, Brussels and Berlin

A cyber-related outage on Collins Aerospace’s MUSE platform forced manual check-in, prompting a coordinated investigation.

Overview

  • Brussels, Berlin and London Heathrow reported queues, delays and some cancellations after electronic check-in and baggage-drop systems went offline late Friday.
  • Collins Aerospace and parent RTX confirmed a disruption to MUSE at select airports, saying manual processing keeps flights moving while teams work to restore service.
  • Brussels Airport reported about 10 cancellations and average one-hour departure delays, and Cirium counted 29 cancellations across Heathrow, Berlin and Brussels.
  • Eurocontrol, according to BBC reporting, asked airlines to cancel half of flights to and from Brussels for a defined window as operators managed reduced throughput.
  • National cyber agencies including the UK’s NCSC and Germany’s BSI engaged with airports, while Frankfurt and Zurich reported no impact and Dublin and Cork cited only minor issues.
