Cyberabad Weekend Drunk-Driving Checks Book 377 Offenders

Courts will process the cases as police warn that fatal DUI crashes can draw BNS Section 105 charges carrying up to 10 years in prison.

Overview

  • Miyapur recorded the most cases at 48, followed by Shadnagar with 42 and Shamshabad and Chevella with 35 each, while Kukatpally logged none.
  • Two-wheelers accounted for 300 of the cases, with 58 involving four-wheelers, 17 three-wheelers and two heavy vehicles.
  • Police reported 317 BAC readings between 35–200 mg/100 ml, 39 between 201–300 mg/100 ml and 21 between 301–550 mg/100 ml.
  • All those booked will be produced before Cyberabad courts, which disposed of 55 DUI cases between December 22 and 27 through fines, social service orders and one jail term.
  • Ahead of New Year’s Eve, authorities announced extensive checks from 8 pm, warned venues against enabling drunk driving, and highlighted MV Act penalties, licence suspensions and culpable homicide charges if a death occurs.
