  • Hoikholhing Haokip, wife of Langchingmanbi’s village chief, was killed in crossfire during a security operation after Ningthoujam Biren Singh, a Meitei farmer, was shot in Bishnupur district.
  • Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum lifted its indefinite Churachandpur shutdown after district officials and the Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry signed a customary law accord over Haokip’s death.
  • Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry admitted responsibility and provided ₹10 lakh in compensation along with ₹1.5 lakh worth of ceremonial items under tribal law.
  • The Defence Ministry denied any Indian Army role in the settlement, calling suggestions to the contrary false and baseless.
  • ITLF has demanded identification and punishment of those responsible and is pressing for a judicial inquiry into the crossfire incident.
