Custody Extended for Two Police Officers in Alleged Bobigny Court Depot Rapes

A reported phone video is being examined under an IGPN-led probe now overseen by the Paris prosecutor.

Overview

  • A 26-year-old detainee alleges she was raped twice during the night of October 28–29 in the holding area beneath the Bobigny courthouse.
  • The officers, aged 23 and 35, were suspended by the Paris police prefect and their garde à vue was prolonged following their initial detention.
  • Both suspects acknowledged sexual relations with the complainant but told investigators they were consensual, according to sources close to the case.
  • The case was transferred from the Bobigny prosecutor’s office to Paris, with the IGPN conducting the inquiry and CCTV covering corridors, not cells, being reviewed.
  • At the time of the alleged assaults, the woman was being referred to prosecutors over parental obligations, and authorities have also opened an administrative investigation after the interior minister condemned the reported acts if proven.
