Overview
- Cursor has opened an early beta of Origin inside a new Codebase tab that lets developers view diffs, comment on and merge pull requests without leaving the editor.
- Origin offers AI-assisted repo queries and edits so users can ask the editor about code, have it modify files, and create or push branches directly from the interface.
- The feature is available to paid Cursor plans with enterprise organizations able to opt out, and Origin syncs two ways with GitHub so repositories and PRs stay updated on both platforms in real time.
- Cursor shipped initial integrations for preview and CI workflows with Vercel, Depot and Buildkite and preserved support for existing GitHub Actions to ease adoption into current pipelines.
- A major GitHub outage occurred the same day Origin debuted but reporting notes the launch aligns with planned rollout timelines and functions as an interoperability layer rather than a full replacement of GitHub.
