Curry’s Montie Quinn Sets NCAA Single-Game Rushing Record With 522 Yards, 7 TDs

The Division III running back became the first college player to surpass 500 rushing yards in a game.

Overview

  • Quinn powered Curry’s 71-27 home win over Nichols on Oct. 18 in Milton, Massachusetts, rushing 20 times for touchdowns of 85, 84, 76, 64, 58, 30 and 2 yards.
  • He averaged 26.1 yards per carry, with five scores from at least 50 yards and two from beyond 80.
  • The total eclipsed Division III’s 465-yard mark by Heidelberg’s Cartel Brooks (2013) and the FBS record of 427 by Oklahoma’s Samaje Perine (2014).
  • Quinn exited after his 85-yard touchdown with 9:23 remaining and did not play Curry’s final two drives.
  • He credited his offensive line, receivers and coaches for the achievement; he has 1,450 rushing yards and 17 touchdowns through six games, and Curry set single-game program records for points and for seven rushing touchdowns.
