Cubs Reliever Adbert Alzolay Placed on IL with Forearm Strain

Alzolay's injury adds to the Cubs' bullpen woes, with the severity of his condition still undetermined.

Overview

Alzolay was placed on the 15-day IL after experiencing right forearm tightness during a game against the Pirates.
The right-hander had a standout 2023 season but has struggled this year with a 4.67 ERA.
Alzolay's absence marks the eighth Cubs player currently on the injured list, five of whom are relievers.
José Cuas has been recalled from Triple-A Iowa to fill the gap in the bullpen.
Manager Craig Counsell and pitching coach Tommy Hottovy expressed concern but await test results to determine the injury's severity.
