Right-handed pitcher Javier Assad was called up from Triple-A Iowa to replace Taillon in the rotation.
Taillon is 0-2 with a 4.50 ERA in three starts in his first season with the Chicago Cubs.
Assad is 2-3 with a 4.07 ERA in 11 games for Iowa this season, including one start.
