Cuauhtémoc Launches Nighttime Brigade for Safety and City Services

The round-the-clock patrols aim to keep key nightlife districts orderly, pressuring city authorities to overhaul decades-old asbestos drainage.

Overview

  • The brigade deploys about 180 Auxiliary Police, 18 Civil Protection officers and 20 Urban Services personnel each night to high-activity neighborhoods.
  • Crews will operate 24/7 across 33 colonias, handling street cleaning, lighting repairs, cold-mix PET asphalt bacheo and removal of illicit dumping.
  • In coordination with the SSC, PAOT and INVEA, teams will verify businesses, enforce regulations and offer women accompaniment through Reacción Violeta.
  • Initial work in Zona Rosa’s Génova and Hamburgo corridors included eco-asphalt patching and streetlight maintenance.
  • Mayor Alessandra Rojo de la Vega urged the city government to replace aging asbestos drainage after recent torrential rains while the brigade continues nightly upkeep.
