Overview

  • Casa de las Artesanías de Michoacán and the National Fund for the Promotion of Handicrafts will award 120,000 pesos in prizes.
  • Piece reception is set for August 29, with the exhibition and sale running August 29–31 at Cuanajo’s tenencia headquarters from 10:00 to 18:00.
  • Judges will recognize 26 artisans, with about 70 expected participants across furniture and waist‑loom textile categories including salas, comedores, baúles, varios and bordado.
  • A children’s contest will be held the same days from 10:00 to 14:00 to encourage new generations to learn and preserve local techniques.
  • Artisans urged visitors not to haggle, noting each piece is handcrafted and time‑consuming and that wood selection and drying can delay deliveries, while organizers invited the public to buy unique work and enjoy local dishes such as mole, corundas and pozole.
