Overview
- The exercises moved into their active phase at the Fakhrabad training ground after an October 20 opening ceremony with contingents from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
- Roughly 1,500 personnel and more than 200 pieces of equipment are involved, including six helicopters and over 20 unmanned aerial vehicles.
- Barrier 2025 debuts as a CSTO-wide formation for radiation, chemical and biological protection and medical support directly subordinated to the peacekeeping commander.
- The drills run October 20–24 to rehearse a peacekeeping mission on the territory of a CSTO member state, timed to coincide with the final stage of CIS Anti-Terror 2025.
- CSTO leaders frame the training as a response to an escalating international crisis and persistent regional instability.
