  • The three-hour exam carries 200 marks across three parts—General Aptitude, subject-specific MCQs and higher-order analytical questions—and applies 25% negative marking for incorrect responses
  • Test subjects include Mathematical Sciences; Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences; Chemical Sciences; Life Sciences; and Physical Sciences
  • The CSIR-UGC NET serves as the national eligibility test for Junior Research Fellowship, Assistant Professor appointments and PhD admissions
