CRPFJ&K Police Search in Kupwara Uncovers New Arms Cache

Authorities are treating the recovery as part of a broader campaign to disrupt cross-border supply chains.

Overview

  • Acting on UIC 98 Battalion intelligence, CRPF 98 Battalion and Jammu & Kashmir Police from PP Awora launched a cordon-and-search under Police Station Trehgam.
  • The team recovered one hand grenade, ten AK-47 rounds, six detonators, a telescope and a Pakistan-made backpack in the Doriban Madhama Awora forest area.
  • The find adds to an earlier seizure in the same area that included two AK-47 rifles, four magazines, 120 rounds, a pistol with two magazines, five grenades, wireless devices and suspected narcotics sent for forensic testing.
  • A case has been registered at Police Station Trehgam, and investigators are working to identify handlers and potential militant links.
  • Officials say the caches may be tied to cross-border infiltration or covert supply drops, and search operations in the area remain active.
