Overview
- RMT members in customer service roles will strike on Saturday, 18 October, affecting all CrossCountry routes with some corridors seeing no trains and others running limited services that finish earlier than usual.
- The operator’s plan shows very limited trains on key routes from Birmingham to Manchester, Bristol, Leeds/York and Reading, with no CrossCountry service on the Birmingham–Leicester–Cambridge/Stansted corridor.
- Trains that do run are expected to be busier than normal and some calling patterns will change, so passengers should check National Rail Enquiries or CrossCountry before travelling.
- Engineering work over the same weekend will further reduce available services, including on the Southampton–Bournemouth section.
- CrossCountry says it remains available for talks with the RMT, and the union has also planned industrial action for Saturday, 1 November.
