Overview
- Cross River said on Oct. 15 that it has added RLUSD into its Core Operating System so fintech customers can access the stablecoin through the same API they use for ACH, wires and real‑time payments.
- RLUSD transactions will settle on the XRP Ledger in roughly three to five seconds at negligible cost, enabling 24/7 intraday and cross‑border settlement without firms building separate blockchain infrastructure.
- The integration follows a string of October moves that expand institutional access to RLUSD, including Standard Chartered’s DIFC custody launch on Oct. 12, Privy’s XRPL wallet tooling on Oct. 13, and DriveWealth’s Europe‑first settlement plan announced on Oct. 14.
- RLUSD is issued under a New York trust, backed 1:1 by cash and equivalents, and Ripple publishes monthly independent attestations of reserves to support the coin’s regulatory transparency.
- Services are rolling out in stages with limited U.S. state availability and pending testing, approvals and custody arrangements, and current implementations do not require counterparties to buy or hold XRP so broader XRP demand is not assured.
