Croix Bethune Wins NWSL Rookie of the Year

The Washington Spirit midfielder capped a stellar debut season with top league honors despite an early injury.

Bethune, 23, scored five goals and provided 10 assists in just 17 matches before a knee injury ended her season.
She became the fourth player in NWSL history to record three assists in a single game during a match against the Chicago Red Stars.
Drafted third overall, Bethune was also named to the NWSL Best XI first team this season.
Her achievements include a gold medal at the Paris Olympics with the U.S. women's national team.
