Overview
- The rule takes effect on 1 October 2026 and forces service providers such as restaurants, cafés and hairdressers to show the current price and a historical reference price from 10 September 2026.
- Businesses must also display the reference price in advertising and on websites, and companies that already have web pages must publish machine‑readable price lists that are updated on working days and kept available for 30 days.
- Accommodation booking and mediator platforms are exempt from the requirement, but shops remain subject to the earlier retail rule that uses 2 May 2025 as its reference date.
- The Croatian Employers' Association warned the rule could create a heavy administrative and technical burden for small and medium firms, and the multiple figures shown during discounts could confuse customers.
- The Croatian Chamber of Agriculture welcomed greater visible transparency but said price tags alone do not reveal where cost increases happened along the supply chain, so further measures would be needed to trace origin of price rises.
