Overview
- Pearl Abyss released the paid Charting the Unknown DLC on Thursday with a roughly £19.99/$24.99 price and availability on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
- The expansion opens a large ocean for shipbuilding, sailing and full underwater exploration and adds a Garden of Trials boss‑rush for extended combat replayability.
- Charting the Unknown also delivers three post‑game storylines for Kliff, Oongka and Damiane that require completion of the base game’s main story, plus upgraded housing, facility management and romance mechanics that can lead to marriage.
- Players reported crashes, quest blockers, NPC and ship behavior problems and graphics/driver issues at launch, and Pearl Abyss pushed multiple hotfixes on Oct. 30–31 to fix crashes, quest progression, underwater and UI bugs and to advise AMD driver rollbacks; saves made with the DLC are not compatible with versions without it.
- Early reception on Steam is mostly positive but users reported a game‑breaking first‑quest bug and the DLC has not yet produced a large PC concurrent‑player spike, while Pearl Abyss and platform partners are offering a limited five‑hour free trial on consoles to encourage discovery.
