'Criminal Record': Detective June Lenker Pursues Truth Amidst Deception

After the death of a woman who called for help, Lenker uncovers deeper layers of corruption and deceit within her own department.

Detective Sergeant June Lenker, played by Cush Jumbo, is investigating a case where an anonymous caller claimed her boyfriend confessed to a murder for which another man, Errol Mathis, is currently serving time.
June's investigation leads her to Detective Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, played by Peter Capaldi, who is dismissive of her concerns and attempts to steer her away from the case.
June locates the anonymous caller, Maria De Souza, but Maria is killed by her boyfriend before June can reach her. The boyfriend is identified as Clive Silcox.
In episode 2, June apprehends Clive Silcox at a relative's house, but is reprimanded for questioning him about the Adelaide murder case.
June is informed by a lawyer named Sonya Singh that the original emergency caller is still alive, suggesting that Maria De Souza was not the original caller and that DCI Daniel Hegarty knew this all along.
