Córdoba Diocese Publishes Full Program for Fuensanta Festivities, Sept. 6–16

Announced details set processions, liturgies, music, civic honors, visiting times across the patronal celebrations.

Overview

  • On Sept. 6 the image will be transferred from the Santuario de la Fuensanta to the Cathedral after the 18:45 blessing of the Pocito waters and a 19:00 mass, led under templete by capataz Luis Moreno with the Fuensanta cornet and drum band and youth groups accompanying.
  • On Sept. 7 at 19:30 Bishop Jesús Fernández will celebrate a solemn mass in the Cathedral followed by the return procession to the sanctuary, directed by capataz Fernando Chiachío with music by the Banda del Maestro Tejero and an itinerary that includes Puerta de Santa Catalina, Lucano and Lineros.
  • Mayor José María Bellido will present the city’s embroidered estandarte depicting the Escudo de la Albolafia during the Sept. 7 vespertine liturgy, which the bishop will bless for inclusion in the Virgin’s processions and custody in the camarín.
  • The principal feast day mass on Sept. 8 at 10:30 in the sanctuary will be presided by the bishop with the Cathedral Choir, and parishioner José Ramón Agote Esparcia will receive the Diocesan Medal for 40 years of service to Cáritas Parroquial.
  • The novena runs Sept. 8–16 with daily rosary at 20:00 followed by mass celebrated by Cabildo members and parish priest Ignacio Sierra, with children’s presentation on Sept. 9 and scheduled visits to the exvotos room and the Pocito on Sept. 7 at 21:30 and on Sept. 8 at 11:30 and 19:30–24:00.
