Overview

  • On July 16 around 14:15, a Mercedes and a second vehicle collided with the median barrier near Hannover-Anderten, prompting closure of the northbound carriageway.
  • All four occupants of the Mercedes were injured and a rescue helicopter was deployed, though authorities have not yet determined the severity of their injuries.
  • The accident has generated roughly five kilometers of tailbacks and forced drivers into more than two hours of delays on detours via the U35, B6 and A2.
  • Since July 10, the Horster Dreieck overpass has remained closed after engineers uncovered severe concrete damage, leaving motorists rerouted and facing heavy congestion around Hamburg.
  • The Autobahn-Gesellschaft has tasked structural experts with load tests to determine how quickly the damaged bridge can be repaired as longstanding underfunding concerns flagged by the ADAC come to light.
