The move comes as the Orioles' incumbent closer, Felix Bautista, is likely to miss the entire 2024 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September.
Kimbrel, 35, had a successful 2023 season with the Philadelphia Phillies, posting an 8-6 record with 23 saves and a 3.26 ERA in 71 relief appearances.
Despite his age, Kimbrel has been durable, making at least 63 appearances in each of the past three seasons.
The Orioles, who won an American League-best 101 games last season, are expected to use Kimbrel as their closer, with Yennier Cano as the primary setup man.
