CPSC Recalls Two Amazon Hair Growth Serums Over Child Safety Risk

Regulators say the minoxidil serums were sold in non–child-resistant bottles that pose a poisoning risk to young children.

Overview

  • About 41,900 units of RootStim Beard Growth Serum and Ruahouine Hair Growth Serum were recalled under CPSC notices dated Jan. 15, 2026.
  • RootStim’s recall covers 16,900 bottles sold on Amazon from November 2024 through September 2025, packaged in black boxes and bottles labeled 5% minoxidil.
  • Ruahouine’s recall covers 25,000 bottles sold on Amazon from January through July 2025 in 60 ml amber dropper bottles labeled 5% minoxidil with biotin.
  • Consumers are instructed to secure the products away from children; RootStim customers should contact the company for a replacement and discard the original bottle.
  • Ruahouine customers are asked to empty and discard the bottle, photograph it, and email the photo for a refund or replacement, and no injuries have been reported.
