CPSC Recalls 3.6 Million HydroTech Expandable Hoses Over Burst Hazard

Consumers need to verify hose date codes for eligibility for refunds after hundreds of users were hurt by sudden bursts.

Overview

  • The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall covering 3.6 million HydroTech 5/8-inch Expandable Burst-Proof Hoses made on or before August 31, 2024.
  • Winston Products received 222 reports of hoses bursting during use, leading to 29 injuries that include a bone bruise, two sprains and five cases of temporary hearing impairment.
  • Affected hoses manufactured in Cambodia, China and Vietnam were sold at Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Target, Ace Hardware and Do It Best from January 2021 through April 2025.
  • Consumers can identify recalled units by date code markings on the spigot end and model names listed in the CPSC notice.
  • Owners are urged to stop using the hoses immediately and return them to participating retailers for full refunds or submit claims via Winston Products’ online portal.
