CPS Charges 11 in Probe of Entain’s Former Turkish Business Including Ex-CEO Kenny Alexander

The company is not charged after a 2023 deferred prosecution agreement that resolved its corporate exposure.

Overview

  • Prosecutors say the alleged offending relates to the provision of gambling services in Turkey between 2011 and 2018, citing bribery, conspiracy to defraud, fraudulent trading, cheating the public revenue and evasion of income tax.
  • Those charged include former GVC/Entain leaders Kenny Alexander, ex-chair Lee Feldman and ex-finance director Richard Cooper, alongside other individuals named by prosecutors.
  • Robert Hoskin faces a separate allegation of perverting the course of justice dating from February 2024 rather than the 2011–2018 conspiracy counts.
  • HMRC called the case a complex international investigation, and the first hearing is scheduled for 6 October at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.
  • Entain said none of the defendants are currently employed by the group and pointed to its December 2023 DPA with the CPS, which included £585m in penalties and disgorgement, £20m to charity and £10m to cover HMRC’s costs.
