CPR Montecastelo of Vigo Wins IV Liga Maker Drone Championship

The STEM competition challenged students to design and pilot drones for medicine delivery to remote areas, with CPR Montecastelo achieving the fastest completion time.

Overview

  • Over 180 students from 18 schools across Galicia participated in the IV Liga Maker Drone competition, held at the Coliseum de A Coruña.
  • The winning team, CPR Montecastelo of Vigo, completed the simulated medicine delivery mission in the shortest time.
  • Additional awards were given for specific achievements: CPR Eduardo Pondal for best design, IES Fin do Camiño for most disruptive solution, IES Carlos Casares for flight dexterity, and IES Poeta Díaz Castro for best presentation.
  • This year’s competition introduced new challenges, including inclined delivery platforms and altitude-based scoring to increase technical difficulty and realism.
  • Organized by Fundación Barrié and ITG, the event aims to inspire interest in STEM careers and develop practical solutions for healthcare logistics in Galicia’s rural and remote areas.
