CPPA-G Seeks Rs0.48-Per-Unit Surcharge for December Fuel Costs

NEPRA has scheduled a January 29 hearing on the request.

Overview

  • CPPA-G filed for a Re0.4781 per kWh fuel cost adjustment after actual December costs averaged Rs9.62 per unit versus a Rs9.1419 reference.
  • Total generation reached 8,487 GWh in December, with 8,208 GWh delivered to DISCOs at a net fuel cost of Rs78.957 billion, equal to Rs9.62 per kWh.
  • A decline in hydropower output and greater reliance on expensive RLNG lifted per-unit costs, with RLNG at Rs20.5457 per kWh and nuclear at Rs2.3009.
  • Nuclear supplied 25.05% of the mix, hydel 18.07%, RLNG 17.24%, gas 11.20%, local coal 13.99%, and imported coal 10.13%, with minor shares from wind, solar, bagasse, and imports.
  • If approved, the additional charge would be recovered through February bills, with the sale price to DISCOs also reflecting a Re0.2628 prior adjustment.
